Randall's Ramblings

Jesse Taylor

Jesse Taylor was a musician from Lexington KY that I first met in 2014. He owned a music store called Chuck’s Music. When I first heard Jesse I thought he had a lot of talent and he was playing three piece with a couple young brothers named Andy and Arron White. Jesse wanted to be on a record label more than anything in the world. I had worked some with Eric “Roscoe” Ambel from New York so we set up a recording session and in late November of 2014 Shelagh and I took Jesse and the brothers to NYC to record some songs.

Jesse never could keep things together and he had issues with drinking and drugs. We never did do anything with the tracks that we recorded in NYC. Jesse passed away in 2024 at only 45 years old.

Here are the three songs that he recorded with Eric Ambel as well as a cut of Feel Like A Number that Jesse recorded on a trip to Muscle Shoals back in 2015. I am also including a video that my buddy Shawn Brock made describing a crazy trip to New Orleans with Jesse, Shawn, Donnie Lambert and myself. Jesse was the person who first introduced me to Greg Austin and in his song Waste Of Time there is a reference to The Kentucky Legend.
